April 16, 2020: What friends are sharing
Today I'm writing about great ideas some friends have shared.
My friend Beth extended an invitation to join a weekly instructor-led Qi Gong and movement session. I'd never tried it before and opting in to something like that has never felt so necessary. So yesterday I joined Beth and a handful of others on Zoom, dedicating about 20 minutes to increasing our awareness of the energy in our bodies and shifting it within us using movement and breathwork. It kind of felt like a focused meditation, and, on the plus side, it was short enough not to be too hard to stay focused. :) Let me know if you'd like to try it out.
My friend Alden is the CEO of a non-profit called Nature Sacred and their recent newsletter shared some thoughtful ways to connect with nature in-place, including a pretty cool osprey cam! They also share virtual tours of botanic gardens which reminded me of my mom's favorite: Tower Hill Botanic Garden in Massachusetts. Turns out Tower Hill is offering a brief video tour of what's blooming right now, which they plan to keep updating. The close-up shots of flowers transport you to their grounds!
Ok, this is a bit of a cheat because Kerry Washington and Elaine Welteroth are not my friends. BUT, today both of them recommended Untamed by Glennon Doyle. So now I'm on a 14-week wait list for the e-book at the LAPL!! In the meantime, I just finished The Education of an Idealist and am currently reading Behold the Dreamers. Up next: Mrs. Everything and More than Enough!
